$130,000 to $145,000Close Date: Open Until FilledJob Summary: The
Finance and Operations Officer (FOO) for the College of Fine Arts
and campus professional arts organizations will be responsible for
directing overall financial management and operations. The FOO
reports to the Dean and serves on the Dean's Cabinet and CFA
Executive Committee. The FOO serves as a key advisor to the Dean
and assists with strategic planning. Duties and essential functions
of this position include:
- Financial forecasting, budgeting, data analysis, reporting,
policy compliance, and controls;
- Identifying and prioritizing resource needs, strategizing ways
to maximize resources to address needs;
- Developing the annual budget proposal and presenting it with
the Dean to the Provost's budget advisory committee;
- Collaborating with leadership across the College in developing
short- and long-term strategic business direction and plans in the
context of a new budget model;
- Facilitating business and financial efficiencies between
University arts entities to optimize use of resources;
- Identifying, responding to, and resolving any significant
financial/operational issues that may emerge;
- Overseeing CFA facilities in partnership with Chairs and
Directors and mediating issues related to space planning,
renovations, utilities disruptions, and deferred maintenance
issues;
- Serving as the College Safety Committee Chair as appointed by
the Dean;
- Overseeing the College's human resources and compensation
structure, particularly under the UCareer project;
- Providing leadership, guidance, and evaluation to the business
officers supporting the University arts organizations;
- Leading communication with and reporting to the Central
Administration Office of Budget and Planning and Institutional
Analysis;
- Serving on various related University and College
committees.The incumbent will support the University of Utah's
goals and mission and act as a catalyst among departments, faculty,
staff, students, and external entities to ensure continuity and
quality of financial administration efforts in the
CFA.Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements customer service, human resources, and
financial objectives for assigned departments consistent with the
University's goals and objectives.
- Manages departments' budgets, estimates budgetary requirements
for special projects, and oversees purchases and inventory.
- Implements and administers new and existing department programs
and services to internal and external customers. Evaluates program
effectiveness.
- Assumes authority and performs functions of the department
director in his/her absence.
- Participates in the development and interpretation of
department policies to ensure compliance with the University's
policies and regulatory requirements. May authorize exceptions to
department policy and procedures related to assigned departments.
Ensures compliance with Federal and state regulations.
- Establishes internal objectives and implements procedures to
meet goals. Assists in setting department short and long-term
goals.
- Oversees department human resources management including
recruitment, performance evaluations, and retention of staff.
- Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing customer complaints,
concerns, and suggestions. Provides appropriate follow-through to
ensure quality customer service.
- Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships with
the community and other institutions.
- Authorizes the purchase and implementation of new technology,
resources, and equipment.
- Serves as part of the department management team.Work

walking.Minimum Qualifications:Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related
area.
- Eight years of progressively responsible financial management
experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, human relations, and effective
communication skills; sound judgment and discretion in handling
sensitive and confidential information; analysis and
problem-solving skills; capacity to handle complex projects with
sensitivity to priorities and shifting demands.
- Demonstrated excellence in budget and financial management,
strategic financial planning, and resource allocation.
- Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform
the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position
description.Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA, MBA, or related credential.
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication, and
interpersonal skills.
- The ability to cultivate and maintain positive and
collaborative working relationships with colleagues at all
levels.
